MASLAH ARTS
Maslah Abdi Daahir (born August 1, 1996), professionally known as Maslah Arts, is a Somali visual artist, educator, and founder of the Maslah Art Studio based in Mogadishu, Somalia. He is recognized for his hand-drawn portraits, community-driven art programs, and his advocacy through visual storytelling on social, cultural, and political issues in Somalia.
Early Life and Background
Maslah was born and raised in Mogadishu, Somalia. Despite the challenges posed by civil conflict, he began drawing at an early age. Largely self-taught, he honed his artistic skills independently without formal education in art. His natural talent and perseverance allowed him to grow into one of Somalia’s most well-known contemporary artists.
Career
Maslah Arts has been active in the field of visual art since his teenage years, with over 16 years of experience. His portfolio includes pencil and charcoal painting portraits of prominent Somali leaders, cultural icons, and everyday individuals. In addition to realistic portraits, his work addresses themes such as tribalism, love, gender-based violence, social justice, terrorism, and displacement.
His drawings often reflect Somalia’s history and present-day challenges, making his art both personal and political.
Maslah Art Studio
In 2024, Maslah established the Maslah Art Studio, which functions as both an art gallery and an educational center. The studio hosts bi-monthly training sessions, each attended by up to 50 students. Through this initiative, Maslah contributes to the nurturing of a new generation of Somali artists by providing free and paid lessons in sketching, painting, and drawing.
He also organizes public engagement programs like “Tijaabi In Aad Wax Sawiri Karto” (“Try If You Can Draw”), a creative art experience where participants draw their own artwork during a guided night session.

ماصلح عبدي ظاهر (من مواليد 1 أغسطس 1996)، المعروف فنياً باسم ماصلح آرتس، هو فنان تشكيلي صومالي، ومعلم في مجال الفن، ومؤسس “استوديو ماصلح للفنون” في مقديشو. يشتهر برسم البورتريهات اليدوية، وبرامجه المجتمعية، واستخدامه للفن كوسيلة للتعبير عن القضايا الاجتماعية والثقافية والسياسية في الصومال.
النشأة والبداية
وُلد ماصلح في مقديشو ونشأ فيها. ورغم ظروف الحرب، بدأ الرسم منذ صغره دون دراسة أكاديمية، فطور مهاراته بشكل ذاتي، وأصبح من أبرز الفنانين في بلاده.
المسيرة الفنية
يمتلك ماصلح خبرة تمتد لأكثر من 16 عامًا في مجال الفنون. تشمل أعماله رسم وجوه الرؤساء والسياسيين والشخصيات العامة، بالإضافة إلى لوحات تعكس مواضيع مثل: القبلية، الحب، العنف الجنسي، الإرهاب، والنزوح.
استوديو ماصلح للفنون
أسس ماصلح عام 2020 استوديو ماصلح للفنون كمركز للمعارض الفنية والتدريب. ينظم دورات فنية شهريًا يحضرها حوالي 50 طالبًا، ويقدم برنامجًا ليليًا فريدًا بعنوان “جرّب إذا كنت تستطيع الرسم”.
